The Department of Water Management and Protection conducts limnological and technological research on:
- Assessment of water quality in flood-prone and limnetic ecosystems from the point of view of protection and rehabilitation under strong anthropogenic pressure. In particular, with regard to the correlation between the concentration of speciation forms of phosphorus and selected metals and the granulometric structure of bottom sediments in anthropogenic limnic ecosystems.
- The problem of microplastic contamination of the aquatic environment, especially with regard to the development of analytical methods for the determination of selected indicator substances for the detection of plastics in the aquatic environment.
- Ecological risk analysis based on knowledge of the total content of metals and metalloids and their speciation forms in the aquatic environment, including sewage sludge, under conditions of differentiated anthropogenic pollution.
